Maldives records additional 121 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, announced 121 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 94,178.      

According to HPA, the 121 new cases include; 31 cases from the greater Male’ region, 70 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 20 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 149 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 91,981.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,924 active cases.      

There are 13 patients in hospitals.      

4,074 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,464 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 2 percent.

Maldives has recorded 260 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August. 

As of present, 396,452 people have received their first dose and 366,486 people have been fully vaccinated, and 22,789 have received their booster dose.
