COVID-19: 124 new cases; 1,981 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, announced 124 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 93,370.      

According to HPA, the 124 new cases include; 35 cases from the greater Male’ region, 76 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 13 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 90 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 91,118.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,981 active cases.      

There are 18 patients in hospitals.      

4,167 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,018 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 3 percent.

Maldives has recorded 258 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August, and began administering booster doses in October. 

As of present, 396,254 people have received their first dose and 365,725 people have been fully vaccinated, and 20,653 have received their booster dose.
