COVID-19: 128 new cases; 1,876 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, announced 128 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 92,629.      

According to HPA, the 128 new cases include; 46 cases from the greater Male’ region, 79 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 3 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 84 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 90,485.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,876 active cases.      

There are 19 patients in hospitals.      

4,004 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,089 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 4 percent. 

With the 128 new infections on Wednesday, 879 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

December 8: 128 cases 

December 7: 133 cases 

December 6: 157 cases 

December 5: 116 cases 

December 4: 102 cases 

December 3: 100 cases 

December 2: 143 cases 

Maldives has recorded 255 COVID-19 deaths.
