COVID-19: 149 new cases, 111 from atolls

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, announced 149 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 90,266.      

According to HPA, the 149 new cases include; 18 cases from the greater Male’ region, 111 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 20 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 152 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 87,855.  

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,150 active cases.      

There are 9 patients in hospitals.      

4,045 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,058 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 1 percent.

Maldives has recorded 248 COVID-19 deaths.
