The City Council has decided to open Food Club Restaurant, owned by Thimarafushi MP Mohamed Mustafa, for bidding. This comes after various negotiations with regard to the rent of the restaurant.

Ibrahim Shujau, member of Male’ City Council said that all restaurants on Artificial Beach with expired contracts are now open for bidding, and Food Club which has always been problematic with regard to rent, is also now open for bidding.

He also said that bidding for part of Dinemore Restaurant also located on Artificial Beach was opened, however, due to a slight problem this announcement has been cancelled. Bidding for this location will open again next week.

In addition, proposals have now been received for “Thandhoori” restaurant, a location which has been vacant for about one year.

“We are working on opening places with expired contracts for bidding. Mr Chico (Food Club), as well as former Thandhoori is now open for bidding,” Shujau said.

Mustafa could not be reached to obtain more information on this issue.

Mustafa was summoned to The City Council on 6 December, with regard to the delayed payment of rent of Food Club Restaurant owned by United Family Properties, of which Mustafa is a shareholder.

Mustafa’s restaurant owes a total of Rf 6.5 million as penalty for delayed payment of rent.
