Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 182 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 88,817.
According to HPA, the 182 new cases include; 24 cases from the greater Male’ region, 124 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 34 cases from operational resorts.
Meanwhile, 257 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 86,559.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,000 active cases.
There are 26 patients in hospitals.
4,656 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,417 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 2 percent.
With the 182 new infections on Sunday, 1,033 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

Maldives has recorded 245 COVID-19 deaths.
Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August.
As of Saturday, 394,801 people have received their first dose and 359,394 people have been fully vaccinated.
