Man arrested over 11-year-old pregnancy case

A man has been arrested in S. Feydhoo following the pregnancy of an 11-year-old girl.

Police Media Official, Sub-Inspector of Police Hassan Haneef said that a 37-year-old man was arrested last Friday.

He did not disclose any further details.

The 11-year-old child gave birth prematurely - at seven months - last Thursday, and the baby died the following day. She told Feydhoo Hospital that she had been molested.

The matter is currently under investigation by the Police and the Ministry of Gender, Family and Human Rights.
