NDMC appeals for help on behalf of storm-hit islands

The National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) has appealed to the public to help storm-hit islands throughout the country.

The NDMC today issued a Press Release saying that the rainstorm currently active over the Maldives has caused severe damage and destruction in many islands throughout the country, and that they are in need of assistance. The Press Release said that anyone wishing to lend a helping hand could do so through the Centre.

“The islands hit by the rainstorm are in dire need of help. Hence, it is our request that anyone or any party wishing to help could do so via the Centre”, read the Press Release.

The NDMC has already established a Task Force in co-operation with some governmental authorities, to monitor losses sustained by storm-hit areas and provide immediately needed assistance. The Centre also said that the Task Force is already active.
