South Hithadhoo MP Ibrahim Nazil has refuted the allegation that he had harassed some other parliamentarians by indecently exposing himself.

Speaking in his turn during the parliamentary debate session held today on the bill on privately-owned businesses – MP Nazil said that there were baseless allegations being made against him, which have been used to make news headlines out of.

“At the end of last week, rumors regarding myself have been talked about in detail,” he said.

MP Nazil said that the rumors alleging that he had exposed himself to some male parliamentarians at the People’s Majilis – was absolutely false.

“What I have to say is that none of the male parliamentarians will have seen my private parts in this People’s Majilis. I give my assurance to all Maldivian citizens in this regard – especially to those from South Hithadhoo constituency,” he stated.

Speaking further – MP Nazil also highlighted the rumors going around alleging that he had attempted to set fire at a neighbor’s house. He firmly denied these rumors as well.

“Never have I ever damaged someone else’s property or their body. I am not someone who works with gangs to murder people. I would not even encourage such acts, nor would I behave in such a manner in the future,” he had said.

The parliamentarian who had accused MP Nazil of indecent exposure is North Hithadhoo MP Mohamed Aslam. Following this, some parliamentarians had requested the Majilis that the matter be investigated.

The arson attempt that MP Nazil had referred to is the attempt to set fire to the residence of the spouse of MP Aslam – Komandooge at Addu City’s Hithadhoo. The culprit had splashed petrol on the house before setting the fire – however, the neighbors were able to put out the fire before it spread.
