Dr Shareef appointed as Permanent Secretary at Housing Ministry

Dr Mohamed Shareef, who has served as State Minister and Deputy Minister of Housing during former President Mohamed Nasheed’s administration, has been appointed as Permanent Secretary of Housing Ministry.

Civil Service Commission (CSC) said that he was appointed to the post yesterday.

Dr Shareef holds a PhD in Civil Engineering.

CSC said that Dr Shareef is an experienced, responsible and capable person who has served the government since 1989.

Dr Shareef filled political posts during Nasheed’s administration, at which time the Permanent Secretary of Housing Ministry was founder of Raajje TV, Ahmed Saleem.

CSC said that prior to being appointed to political posts, Dr Shareef worked with the compilation of the national development plan at the Ministry of Planning. He has experience in service engineering, coastal engineering, spatial planning, development planning and international communications.

According to CSC, Dr Shareef has served as a member of several Committees, including that of Maldives National University, Adaptation Fund Board formed under Kyoto Protocol, as well as the Projects and Program Committee of AFB.

Dr Shareef attained his Bachelor of Engineering with Honours from UK’s University of Brighton in 1995. He then served the government for some years, before receiving a PhD in Maritime Civil Engineering in 2005.
