COVID-19: 65 new cases, 42 from atolls

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced 65 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 85,107.      

According to HPA, the 65 new cases include; 19 cases from the greater Male’ region, 42 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and four cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 92 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 83,385.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,477 active cases.      

There are 19 patients in hospitals.      

3,583 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,407 from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at one percent.

Maldives has recorded 232 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August.

As of present, 392,591 people have received their first dose and 341,401 people have been fully vaccinated.
