COVID-19: 79 new cases, 42 from atolls

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced 79 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 83,655.      

According to HPA, the 79 new cases include; 26 cases from the Male’ region, 42 cases from residential islands outside of Male’ region, and 11 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 133 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 81,804.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,609 active cases.      

There are 23 patients in hospitals.      

3,983 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,628 from the greater Male' region.

September 17: 84 cases 

September 16: 86 cases 

September 15: 92 cases 

September 14: 120 cases 

Maldives has recorded 229 COVID-19 deaths.
