COVID-19: 169 new cases; 2,057 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 169 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 81,979.      

According to HPA, the 169 new cases include; 53 cases from the greater Male’ region, 96 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 20 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 114 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 79,683.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,057 active cases.      

There are 23 patients in hospitals.      

5,764 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 2,106 from the greater Male' region.

August 30: 169 cases 

Maldives has recorded 226 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country has also begun vaccinating children above the age of 12 years in August.

On Sunday, a total of 301 people had gotten their first dose whereas a total of 182 people had gotten their second dose.

With these new developments, a total of 385,855 people have received their first dose out of which 303,667 people have completed the second dose.
