COVID-19: 179 new cases, 120 from atolls

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Friday, announced 179 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 81,653.      

According to HPA, the 179 new cases include; 42 cases from the greater Male’ region, 120 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 17 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 108 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 79,448.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,966 active cases.      

There are 25 patients in hospitals.      

5,120 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,946 from the greater Male' region.

August 30: 169 cases 

August 29: 113 cases 

August 28: 139 cases 

Maldives has recorded 226 COVID-19 deaths.
