President reviews vaccination program for school students

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited the Islamic Center in Male’ on Sunday afternoon to review the progress of the new vaccination program aimed at children between the ages of 12 and 17 years. 

President Solih was accompanied on his visit to the Islamic Center by Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali and Health Minister Ahmed Naseem. 

The vaccination program for school students was launched with the innoculation of students from Aminiya School earlier this Sunday.

Education Ministry has announced the order in which vaccination for students in Male’ City schools will be carried out. The schools are: 

  • Arabiyya School 
  • Iskandhar School 
  • Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) 
  • Majeediyya School 
  • Dharumavantha School 
  • Kalaafaanu School 
  • Hiriya School 
  • Thaajuddeen School 
  • Imaduddin School 

Children between the ages of 12 and 17 years will be administered the Pfizer vaccine.

Over 80 percent of the eligible population in Maldives had received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 69 percent have been fully vaccinated. 

Maldivian authorities aim to fully vaccinate 90 percent of the eligible population in the country by the end of this August.
