With 590 new infections, cases surpass 67,000

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, announced 590 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 67,538.

According to HPA, the 590 new cases include; 389 cases from the greater Male’ region, 195 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 6 cases from operational resorts.

461 cases were samples collected between 6 pm of June 4 and 6 pm of June 5, while the remaining 129 were samples collected earlier.

Meanwhile, 1,603 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 47,333.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 20,014 active cases.

There are 191 patients in hospitals.

5,256 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

With the 590 new infections this Saturday, 4.632 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

May 30: 780 cases

Maldives has recorded 182 COVID-19 deaths.
