COVID-19: 1,417 new cases from 5,581 samples

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 1,417 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 57,341.

According to HPA, the new cases include; 1,097 cases from the greater Male’ region, 303 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 17 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 814 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 33,136.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 24,057 active cases.

There are 282 patients in hospitals.

5,581 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

  • May 18: 1,465 cases

139 COVID-19 patients have died from complications. Ten of these deaths have been reported today.
