Man charged in killing of Bangladeshi worker onboard Meedhoo fishing boat

Prosecutor General’s Office has filed murder charges against a Bangladeshi man accused of killing a fellow migrant worker in a violent altercation onboard a fishing boat back in March.

Mohamed Masood, 42, is accused of stabbing a fellow Bangladeshi man who worked on the fishing boat ‘Jihad’ in Dh. Meedhoo in a violent altercation which took place onboard the boat at approximately 03:50 am on March 7, while the boat was docked near a buoy to catch bait.

The victim died at the Th. Veymandoo Hospital a couple of hours later, at 11:59 am.

Masood has been charged with murder with intent under Article 5 of Act on Prohibition of Intimidation and Possession of Dangerous Weapons and Sharp Instruments.

Prosecutor General’s Office announced this Wednesday that they filed the charge against Masood with the Criminal Court on May 5.
