Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 1,467 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 42,775.
According to HPA, the new cases include; 1,276 cases from the greater Male’ region, 182 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 18 case from operational resorts.
HPA said that out of the 1,467 cases being reported today, 939 cases are positive cases from samples collected between 18:00 of 13 May and 18:00 of May 14.
Meanwhile, 244 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 27,672.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 15,003 active cases.
There are 290 patients in hospitals.
5,037 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.
91 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.
According to the latest figures of the HPA, 302,506 people have received their first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 in the Maldives. Of them, just 24 vaccinated on May 13. They are all from atolls apart from the capital area.
HPA also stated that 140,670 people have received both doses of the vaccine. They include 592 who received the second dose on May 13. They include 12 people from the Greater Male' Area as well as 580 from other atolls.
