COVID-19: Maldives death toll rises to 91, 4th death today

Health authorities in the Maldives have announced the fourth death in relation to COVID-19 today.

The announcement means that the Maldives has recorded four deaths so far today, and has recorded a total of 91 deaths related to the virus. 

In a tweet, Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that the deceased was a 78-year old Maldivian male who was brought into the IGMH Emergency Room. He was declared dead at 12:48.

The previous three deaths recorded today have also been all Maldivians. 

The number of COVID-19 cases being recorded in the Maldives has in recent times skyrocketed and active cases have jumped from around 5,000 to close to 14,000. Average cases per day have also increased to around 800 and 1,000 since the final days of the holy month of Ramadan.
