A boat carrying fuel has capsized at sea near Hulhumale, phase 2.
Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) stated that the boat was carrying three people when it capsized due to stormy weather.
The people on board were rescued onto a safari boat nearby, according to MNDF which added that the Central region squadron of the Coastguard was deployed to the area.
The Maldives is experiencing heavy rains and strong winds and MNDF warned sea goers to remain alert to the bad weather.
Weather services have anticipated that the Maldives could experience strong winds of up to 55 miles per hour. The Met Office has also issued a yellow weather alert from the region of B. Atoll to Addu City.
