Naifaru MP Ahmed Shiyam tests positive for COVID-19

Naifaru MP Ahmed Shiyam has tested positive for COVID-19. 

MP Shiyam, who is also the deputy leader of PPM, the main opposition party, is believed to have tested positive for COVID-19 almost a week ago. 

The Parliament has confirmed that MP Shiyam had informed of the positive status today. MP Shiyam, however, has not responded to his phone.

MDP's PG leader and MP for Central Henveiru Ali Azim had also tested positive for the virus earlier this month.

Maldives has so far confirmed more than 22,000 cases of COVID-19. Currently, there are 2,436 active cases and 96 people hospitalized. 66 people have passed away due to the virus in the Maldives.
