COVID-19: With 186 new infections, total cases exceed 22,000

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 186 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 22,147.

According to HPA, the new cases include;151 cases from the greater Male’ region, 11 cases from residential islands outside Male', 20 cases from operational resorts, and one from a liveaboard.

Meanwhile, 123 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 19,642.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,433 active cases.

There are 121 patients in hospitals.

4,688 samples (including repeated samples) have been tested for the COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

65 patients have died from complications.

1,745 vaccinated in 24 hours

HPA stated that 1,745 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. All of those vaccinated today were from other atolls apart from the capital area.

Total 217,597 people have now been inoculated under the program; 121,630 from the greater Male’ region, and 95,967 from other atolls.
