COVID-19: 94 new cases, 80 from Male' City

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 94 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 21,666.

According to HPA, the new cases include; 80 cases from the greater Male’ region, seven cases from residential islands outside Male', and seven cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 150 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 19,245.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,350 active cases.

There are 127 patients in hospitals.

4,561 samples (including repeated samples) have been tested for the COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

  • March 15: 94 cases

  • March 13: 94 cases
  • March 12: 114 cases
  • March 11: 124 cases
  • March 10: 110 cases
  • March 9: 115 cases

64 patients have died from complications.

VACCINE DRIVE

Maldives began mass vaccinations against the COVID-19 on February 1. HPA stated that 6,591 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. 4,994 were from the greater Male’ region, and 1,603 were from the atolls.

Total 212,711 people have now been inoculated under the program; 121,630 from the greater Male’ region, and 91,081 from the atolls.
