Police have fined 95 individuals for traveling to the island of V. Anbaraa for violation of health authority guidelines in the Maldives.
Police said that the individuals were fined for traveling without the required travel permits. Police specified that the individuals traveled to the island from the capital Male' City.
The island was frequented by picnic goers before the pandemic situation in the Maldives.
Lastnight 95 individuals were fined for violating HPA guidelines and travelling from Male' to V. Anbaraa without permits. Vessel used for transportation was used in over capacity and necessary actions will be taken after further investigation.

Under HPA guidelines imposed due to the spread of COVID-19 in the Maldives, travelers are required to obtain a permit from the HPA prior to their departure to other islands of the Maldives.
Police also added that a vessel used to travel to the island was used in overcapacity.
“Necessary actions will be taken after further investigation,” read a police tweet regarding the matter.
Police also advised the public to follow the HPA guidelines and take preventive measures to stop the spread of COVID-19.
