COVID-19: 118 new infections, active cases at 2,658

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 118 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Maldives to 20,565.

The Maldives now has 2,658 active cases.

According to HPA, the new cases include; 95cases from the greater Male’ region, four from other inhabited islands, and 19 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 124 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 17,836. There are 167 patients in hospitals.

2,964 samples (including repeated samples) have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

64 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.

VACCINE DRIVE

The Maldives began mass vaccinations against COVID-19 on February 1.

HPA stated that 1,703 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. All of those vaccinated today are from other atolls apart from the capital.

Total 138,827 people have now been inoculated under the program; 84,891 from the greater Male’ region, and 53,936 from other atolls.
