Statistics show state earned MVR 2.8b in 8 weeks of 2021

Statistics of the Finance Ministry have shown that the state earned MVR 2.8 billion within the first eight weeks of 2021. 

According to the Ministry, tax revenues during this period totaled MVR 2.4 billion while non-tax revenue included MVR 375.4 million. Aid received during this period totaled MVR 3.1 million. 

The state expenditure during this period was calculated at MVR 3.3 million. MVR 1.4 billion was spent on salaries and wages as well as pension while MVR 1.1 billion was spent for recurrent expenditure.

MVR 170.3 million was spent on loan repayments. Statistics for last year had shown that the state spent MVR 126.2 million for loan repayments during the same period last year. 

The statistics also showed that the state had spent MVR 366.7 for PSIP projects in the first eight weeks of 2021.

The state budget for 2021 totals MVR 34 billion while state earnings for 2021 is calculated at MVR 21 billion.
