The Tourism Ministry of the Maldives has hailed the arrival of a record number of tourists to the Maldives yesterday.
The popularity of the Maldives as a destination has slowly resurged after the border closures of 2020 due to the pandemic. Some previously low-performing source markets are now some of the best-performing markets in the industry for the nation.
The Tourism Ministry stated last night that yesterday, with 5,100 tourist arrivals was a new record for 2021 in terms of arrivals. The Ministry conveyed congratulations to all partners involved for the significant milestone, including a special thanks to the tourists.

Yes the daily arrivals to #Maldives today surpassed 5,100 tourists. It's a new record for 2021.
Thanks and congratulations to industry partners, related authorities, lovely tourists and ever-welcoming Maldivians.
The figure of 5,000 is more or less the average figure of tourist arrivals on a daily basis to the Maldives before the pandemic hit the nation. In 2021 so far, tourist arrivals have stayed at a regular average of 3,000. Up until February 20, Maldives has recorded almost 160,000 tourist arrivals.
India is the top-performing market for the Maldives while Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan remain next on the list. The Ministry has set a target for bringing in 1.5 million tourists in 2021.
