Man assaulted, injured in Lorenzo Park

A man has been injured in Malé after being assaulted at around 4:00pm this evening.

The incident took place at Lorenzo Park, the same location where a student of Dharumavantha School was found dead earlier this year.

Eyewitnesses said that the victim, in order to escape from the attackers, ran into Kulliyya and lost consciousness.

“People who happened to be there took him to the hospital. I don’t think the injuries are serious,” an eyewitness told Sun Online.

Reporters of Sun Online found one of the victim’s sandals near Kulliyya, and the other in the park. Blood was discovered at the entrance of Kulliyya; however, neither the eyewitnesses nor the Police said that any sharp object was involved in the attack.

Eyewitnesses said that he was attacked by a group of three people, who fled the scene on motorbikes immediately after the assault.

A Police Media Official said that the matter is under investigation.

He informed that the victim is a 26 year old male, who suffered a minor injury to the head, but no serious injuries.

The Police have not yet arrest anyone in relation to this crime.

Mohamed Arham, 16, was found murdered in Lorenzo Park on 30 May 2012, and Ungoofaaru MP Dr Afrasheem Ali was stabbed to death less than a month ago.
