Police have fined more than 1,500 individuals for not complying with the mandatory mask order in the capital Male’ City.
The fines are from January 31 to February 8. Police statistics show that a total of 1,551 individuals were fined for mask order violations.
The statistics also show that 2,744 individuals were fined for health safety guideline violations.

This includes 271 for violations of the vehicle ban. The vehicle ban prohibits driving in the capital from 20:00 to 04:00.
Curfew violations were numbered at 988. The capital is under a curfew from 23:00 to 04:30. Guidelines violations are met with a fine of MVR 1,000.
