Boat wrecks off Hithadhoo in Addu City

Coastguard are assisting a reef fishing boat which wrecked just off the coast of Hithadhoo, a district in Addu City.

The incident was reported to Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) at approximately 09:53 am on Wednesday.

MNDF spokesperson Ahmed Azim identified the boat as ‘Koamass’.

Divers from the Southern Area Coastguard Squadron have been deployed to assist in moving the boat off the rocks, said Azim.

There were two locals and one tourist on board when the incident took place, none of whom sustained any injuries.
