Senior level discussions between Maldives-China tomorrow

Senior level meetings between Maldives and China are to be held tomorrow. 

Additional Secretary of the Foreign Ministry Ameen Jaavidh Faisal will take part on behalf of the Maldives while Deputy Director-General of Chinese Foreign Affairs Chen Song will take part on behalf of China at the meeting. 

Discussions in the meeting will take place around furthering relations between the two nations in several areas including COVID-19 and its economic impact, developing tourism, and international travel. 

The Foreign Ministry said that area of collaboration in multilateral forums will also be discussed during the meeting.

Discussions such as these will play a huge role in the resurge of the economy, tourism, which the government will conduct with development partners all over the world, according to the Ministry.

China was one of the biggest sources of tourist markets to the Maldives before the COVID-19 lockdown. It was also one of the first nations to assist the Maldives during the pandemic. China has consistently assisted the Maldives in a number of ways.
