A Google Loon project balloon has once again fallen into Maldivian waters.
The balloons are used by Google for internet service provision in different regions of the world. This is the second time such a balloon has fallen into Maldivian waters in less than a month.
The first incident happened on October 29. The balloon fell into G. Dh. Atoll waters near Nadella in that incident.
This time the balloon fell near the same atoll west of G. Dh. Vaadhoo.
Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) stated that reports of the incident were received around 8:30. MNDF said that Maldives Civil Aviation Authority and Air traffic controllers had been monitoring the balloon which fell.
MNDF said that they were now working to hand over the balloon to Google’s agents in the Maldives.
The project by Google is a network of stratospheric balloons designed to bring Internet connectivity to rural and remote communities worldwide.
