Greater Male’ curfew time pushed back to 00:00 hours

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has eased COVID-19 restrictions, including pushing back curfew time in the greater Male’ region to 00:00 hours.

HPA announced the changes on Saturday, stating that pedestrian and vehicular traffic will be banned in greater Male’ from 00:00-04:00 hours, instead of 23:00-04:00 hours as had previously been in effect.

Meanwhile, public gatherings of more than 15 people in greater Male’ remains banned, and travellers from greater Male’ to other regions remain subject to home quarantine, and domestic travellers in general remain subject to HPA’s guidelines and are required to wear masks.

BAN LIFTED ON CONTACT AND OUTDOOR SPORTS

HPA has lifted the ban on some of the sporting activities, stating that contact sports and outdoor sports are no longer prohibited as long as HPA’s guidelines are followed. However, sports competitions will remain prohibited unless determined otherwise by the Youth Ministry.

 People are also now permitted to visit sports arenas to spectate sports, as long as they do not form crowds of more than 15 people.

Meanwhile, parks, museums and other public locations have been permitted to reopen for public in accordance with HPA’s guidelines, high-risk employees asked to work from home have been permitted to return to work from office with necessary precautions, and business establishments and food outlets have been permitted to reopen in accordance with the instructions of relevant agencies.

The eases follow a drop in COVID-19 cases in Male’.  Maldives has 11,962 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 30 new cases this Saturday. 11,066 have since recovered, while 39 have died from complications.

The country currently has 850 active cases.
