Indian Foreign Secretary to meet with President Solih during visit

An official visit by the Foreign Secretary of India Harsh Vardhan Shringla to the Maldives next Sunday will see him meet with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. 

Secretary Shringla is visiting the Maldives at the invitation of his Maldivian counterpart Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed. 

The Maldivian Foreign Ministry stated that discussions regarding decisions made at the joint commission meeting in New Delhi last December would take place during the visit by Secretary Shringla. In addition to this, discussions would focus on Indian funded projects run in the Maldives. 

Secretary Shringla will also meet with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed as well as Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid.

Secretary Shringla is also set to meet with a number of cabinet members including Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi, Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail, and Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom.

This is the first such visit to the Maldives by Secretary Shringla since taking office on January 29, 2020.
