COVID-19: Maldives records 39th death

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced the 39th COVID-19 related death in the Maldives. 

In a tweet, the HPA said that the deceased was an 88-year old male who was admitted and receiving treatment at the Hulhumale' Medical Facility. 

The time of death was recorded as 15:50. 

"This is the 39th COVID-19 death in the Maldives" stated the HPA in its tweet. 

The Maldives currently has 838 active cases, with a total number of cases recorded at 11,893. Currently, there are 185 patients in isolation facilities and 56 in hospitals.

The Maldives identified its first coronavirus case on March 7 and declared a state of public health emergency over the pandemic less than a week later on March 12.
