Random sample from Ungoofaaru positive for COVID-19

A positive case of COVID-19 has been tested among random samples taken from the island of R. Ungoofaaru. 

Ungoofaaru Council has confirmed the positive case. The Council stated that the positive individual was a resident of the island. 

Ungoofaaru is visited by a number of people from the surrounding islands for medical purposes due to the regional hospital on the island. 

Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) usually places islands where random cases of COVID-19 are found under monitoring mechanisms. More details on the Ungoofaaru case is to be revealed by the HEOC in a press conference later on. 

The island has now been placed under monitoring mechanisms.
