Foreign Minister Shahid meets with ambassadors from Arab countries

Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid, on Tuesday, met with non-residential ambassadors from some of the countries in the Middle East accredited to Maldives.

The meeting was held virtually, and was attended by the Jordanian Ambassador to Maldives, the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Maldives, the Palestinian Ambassador to Maldives, the Yemeni Ambassador to Maldives and the Deputy Head of Mission of Oman.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Shahid and the ambassadors exchanged information regarding the evolving COVID-19 situation in their respective countries, and discussed enhancing bilateral and multilateral relationships between the countries.

Shahid also took the opportunity to thank the countries for the support extended to Maldives amid the ongoing pandemic.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the meeting was an initiative of Shahid himself to cultivate closer relationships and interaction between the Foreign Ministry and foreign diplomats accredited to Maldives.

A similar meeting took place between Shahid and ambassadors from some of the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) accredited to the Maldives last week.
