The lawyer of two suspects arrested for the murder of Ungoofaaru MP Dr Afrasheem Ali has appealed the cases against them, following Criminal Court’s extension of the detention period by 15 days.
The cases to be appealed are those against Mariyam Naifa and Ali Hashim.
Criminal Court extended the detention period to 15 days last Wednesday night.
Afrasheem was stabbed to death near his residence late Monday night.
Police have informed that four people have been taken under arrest for this murder.
The government has asserted that Afrasheem’s murderers will be brought to justice. President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has called for a national investigation of the murder.
Police have appealed to the public for cooperation in this investigation, and particularly requested any person who saw Afrasheem’s car on the night of his murder in Male’, to come forward with the information.
