Two more COVID-19 cases from among the crew of Faalhu, a boat that travels between Kulhudhuffushi city and Male’ city.
The first case linked with Faalhu, the captain of the boat, was identified on Friday, prompting Health Protection Agency (HPA) to implement monitoring mechanisms in both Kulhudhuffushi and H. Dh. Nolhivaram, where the boat had made a stop to before travelling to Kulhudhuffushi.
HPA said that the two new cases this Saturday are also members of the boat’s crew, and that they were tested as they were identified as contacts of the boat captain.
Contact tracing remains in progress, said HPA.
Maldives has 10,014 confirmed COVID-19 cases. 8,673 patients have since recovered, while 34 have died from complications.
