Young man who went snorkeling off Male’ found dead

A young man who went missing on Monday after he went snorkeling off the coast of the west park area in Male’ city has been found dead.

According to Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), Shaffan Rasheed, 24, M. Boiling Fish, Male’, ventured out on a solo snorkeling trip at approximately 11:00 am.

He was reported missing at approximately 04:36 pm, prompting the MNDF to deploy a team of divers from the Male’ Area Coastguard squadron for a search and rescue operation.

MNDF confirms that divers recovered his body from 12.1 meters underwater.

The deceased has been taken to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
