Committee to advise on providing financial assistance to Afrasheem

Speaker of Parliament Abdullah Shahid has requested the Parliament’s General Committee to advise on providing financial assistance to the family of the late Ungoofaaru MP Dr Afrasheem Ali, who was stabbed and killed last Monday night.

Speaking at a press conference today, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ahmed Nazim confirmed that this letter had been sent by Shahid. Nazim expressed hope that the Committee will expedite making a decision on this matter.

Vice President Mohamed Waheeddeen has decided to pay fully for the education of Dr Afrasheem’s eldest son, Ayyoob Afrasheem, 12.

Dr Afrasheem left behind a wife, two sons and a daughter.
