5 coronavirus patients being treated on ventilators

Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) announced on Monday that five coronavirus patients who have been hospitalized are receiving treatment on ventilators.

In a press conference on Monday night, HEOC spokesperson and epidemiologist Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said that the five patients being treated on ventilators include three hospitalized in the intensive care unit on the 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital, and two hospitalized in the Hulhumale’ medical facility.

Information released by Health Protection Agency (HPA) show Maldives has 2,588 active coronavirus cases, and that 171 patients are hospitalized.

There are five patients in the intensive care unit on the 11th floor of Dharuvamantha Hospital, and one in the ward of the 16th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital.

There are 159 patients in the Hulhumale’ medical facility, five of whom are being treated in the intensive care unit.

There is also one patient hospitalized in the B. Eydhafushi medical facility, while the patient treated in the Sh. Funadhoo medical facility has been released after treatment.

Maldives has 6,912 confirmed coronavirus case, including 133 new cases recorded on Monday. 4,297 patients have since recovered, while 27 have died from complications.

More than 1,000 people have tested positive in the last one-week period alone.
