Health Protection Agency (HPA) has confirmed that Maldive has recorded its 27th COVID-19 death today.
In a tweet, HPA said that a 79-year-old local male who was brought in to the emergency room of IGMH had passed away. HPA did not state whether the individual tested positive for the virus before or after his death.
The time of death is recorded as 02:58.
The number of COVID-19 cases reported as of recently has been very much on the rise. Last night, 119 cases were confirmed, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 6,779. Active cases are numbered at 2,531.
Authorities have been imposing stricter safety measures due to the increase of cases noted from August onwards.
