COVID-19: 77 yr old passes away, Maldives records 21st death

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has just now confirmed the death of a Maldivian female infected with COVID-19.

HPA said that the individual was a 77-year old female. She was receiving treatment at the Hulhumale' Medical Facility when she passed away.

The time of death is recorded as 9:20. This is the 21st individuals to pass away from the virus in the Maldives.

The Maldives currently has 2,354 active cases. With the 66 new infections confirmed yesterday, 777 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Maldives is at 5,223. There are 1,507 patients in isolation facilities and a further 148 in hospitals receiving treatment for the virus. 90,704 samples, including repeated samples, have been taken by health authorities to conduct tests.
