Police seize electronics from home of former Tourism Minister

Poli8ce has seized the mobile phone and laptop of former Tourism Minister Ali Waheed, who is accused of sexual misconduct during his time in office.

Police raided the home of the former Minister last night, seizing the items for the investigation. Police confirmed that electronic items belonging to Ali Waheed were seized under a court order last night. Officers are also working to obtain further evidence linking Ali Waheed to the allegations.

No further details were disclosed by the police.

Ali Waheed was dismissed from the post by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on July 9, after multiple accounts of gross sexual misconduct were reported against him by Tourism Ministry staffers. The President had initially ordered him to resign but dismissed him when he failed to resign on the following day.
