The party council of the Jumhooree Party (JP) has proposed to dismiss Tourism Minister Ali Waheed from the party leadership after claims of sexual harassment surfaced against the Minister last night.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih ordered the resignation of the Minister last night over the allegations.

A JP official confirmed the news to Sun

President’s spokesperson Ibrahim Hood said last night that the President ordered Ali Waheed’s resignation after Tourism Ministry staff raised complaints over “multiple incidents of misconduct at the workplace” with the President and Gender Ministry.

“The President ordered Minister of Tourism Mr. Ali Waheed to resign from his post in response to this tonight,” said Hood.

While the spokesperson did not specify the nature of the allegations against Ali Waheed, Sun has been informed that it involves allegations of sexual misconduct.
