Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that gyms in the capital are to open on a scheduled basis with prior appointments.

Gyms in the capital are expected to open on July 10 after being closed due to COVID-19.

The guideline issued by HPA regarding the reopening of gyms read that safety measures to limit the number of people at the fitness centers must be in place.

The number of gym-goers must be set out in a scheduled manner. Appointments must be made prior to attending, according to the guideline.

Appointments should only be issued after inspecting for any symptoms of COVID-19. Anyone with symptoms should refrain from gyms for safety reasons. While inside, gym-goers are expected to maintain a three-feet distance at all times. Clients must also attend five-minutes before the scheduled appointment.

Congestion and overcrowding are to be avoided at all times. Appointments should be made in a manner that will limit contact with each other. Queues of three-feet must also be made when entering or departing the gym.

Equipment inside the gym must be arranged three-feet apart and a designated employee to inspect the cleanliness and hygiene of equipment must be present at all times.

For financial transactions, cashless payments are recommended by the HPA.

Arrangements for sanitizing and handwashing must be made at the gyms. Group classes should only be held if a distance of three feet can be maintained between participants.

The gym and equipment are to be disinfected every day before and after sessions. The guideline also instructed not to provide sauna or steam room services yet. Food stands are not yet allowed in gyms while water is to be provided in disposable cups.
