A total of 56 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives today. 35 individuals have also recovered from the virus today. The total number of recoveries in the country has now increased to 488.
Speaking in a press conference tonight, National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez confirmed the recoveries and said that the country currently had 1,333 active cases.
The confirmed positive cases tonight include 27 locals and 28 foreigners. Other than just one case (independent), all local cases were connected with previous clusters.
Looking at the cases of foreigners, Mabrouq said that there were four independent cases, while the remainder were connected with previous clusters.
The Maldives has now confirmed 1,829 cases of the virus. Twelve individuals are currently receiving treatment at Tree Top Hospital for the virus. One individual at the facility is receiving treatment at the ICU of the hospital.
The Maldives has so far confirmed six deaths from the virus. The latest fatality was reported today.
