The Ministry of Higher Education will financially assist Maldivian students abroad for two months.

The assistance is for those students faced with financial losses and difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A policy on how to proceed with the financial aid was published on the government’s gazette today.

Those entitled to the aid will have to be studying a course approved by the Maldives Qualification Authority. These students would also be entitled to the aid if their sponsors had reduced the financial assistance. The students should also not be a receiver of a living allowance by a sponsor.

The Ministry also stated that it will assist students in returning to the Maldives after completing their training or courses. These are students who have been left stranded due to the ongoing pandemic.

The financial aid will depend on the average amount (in USD) equal per day from the stipend limits allocated by the government for specific countries.
